About Us

Established in April 2007, The Institute of Foreign Language and Culture, popularly known as “IFLaC” among its alumni, is a growing language institute that offers professional courses in various foreign and Indian languages, namely – Spanish, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Swedish, Mandarin, Polish, Japanese, Arabic, English, Kannada and Hindi.
IFLaC adheres to international standards in the field of academics and promotes various cultures through fun and interactive experiences.
IFLaC’s mission is to provide students and clients with the opportunity to broaden their scope for communication through foreign language learning, by providing resources, training and opportunities for personal and professional development.

FOUNDER & MANAGING TRUSTEE

Having grown up with and around Spanish speaking people; her tryst with the Spanish language paved the way towards sharing her love for languages and multiculturalism, through the establishment of IFLaC in 2007. From modest beginnings, today IFLaC is considered as the foremost foreign language academy in Bangalore and one of the finest in the country.

She is an alumnus of Mount Carmel College and has completed her Diploma Superior in Business Spanish from University of Álcala and the Chamber of Commerce, Madrid. She is currently pursuing an International Master’s in Practicing Management from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

She is a bibliophile, keen scrabble player and is extremely passionate about the environment. She spends her free time engaged in neighborhood environmental issues and travelling the world.

You must be wondering how a Bachelor’s in Microbiology got into learning and teaching Spanish! Truth is, Anuradha loves challenging herself and trying out new things. She is now deeply committed to something that started off as a whim. Speaking of challenges, she loves trekking and enjoys being amidst nature.

After a busy day, you can find Anuradha de-stressing with a good book and some relaxing music!

Sono Francesco Antonio Vitiello!

Born and brought up in Napoli, Italy, a bustling hub of art and architecture, Francesco speaks fluent Italian, English and Spanish. His passion for language and culture led him to complete his Bachelor’s in Foreign Language and Culture and Master’s in International Relations and Cultural Studies. He decided to use his sojourn in India to explore the different perspectives, cultures and food that the country has to offer.

He is also a seasoned foodie, so don’t forget to ask him to clearly differentiate between a Cannoli and a Samosa!

Eu sou Ana Paula Silva da Paixão!

From the land of coffee, samba and football, working in a museum that hosts Cultural Events for foreign visitors, Anna used to transmit her love for her native land to the foreigners. Now in India, her adopted land, she brings a host of experiences from Brazil, enabling the students to easily embrace the language and the culture of the Portuguese speaking world. 

Her simplicity is personified by her ability to sympathize beyond language barrier and help her students to learn the language of one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

An intelligent and diligent student, Shilpa pursued her studies in Computer Science and eventually settled in the USA. After a few years, she decided to move back to her country and felt the need to tread a new path. She joined  IFLaC as a student to learn Spanish. Little did she know that teaching Spanish would become her true calling!  

She is overwhelmingly popular with the students and a hobby has now grown into a full-fledged career. When she is not in class or with her family, this fashionista is busy with retail therapy!

Wǒ shì Chén Yànxiá

Yan Ha Chen is a native Chinese from Kolkata, where she did her BA in Education. She is an expert Mandarin interpreter and translator, who is IFLaC’s foremost Mandarin faculty.

 She likes to read, listen to music, travel and try out new food!

Jag heter Ingegerd Minocher Lindberg!

A Swede by birth, who has strong feelings for India, Ingegerd moved to India in 1991 after completing her Master’s in Uppsala University Sweden. A few years later, she moved back to Sweden and taught Swedish to immigrants and at the prestigious international boarding school SSHL in Sweden. However, her feelings for India were too strong to tie her there and eventually she returned back to Bangalore.

Her love for Sweden and it’s culture is apparent in her teaching. Outside class, she bakes delicious Swedish cakes and breads!

Yo soy Ranjana Mallavaram

An Electrical Engineer by profession and also a language aficionado, Ranjana boarded the IFLaC express in 2011 when the Spanish bug bit her. She says that meeting new people is the most rewarding experience.

She is an avid traveler, who has now delved into the ‘Devbhasha'(Sanskrit) and down the lane, hopes to enrich her mind with other foreign languages at IFLaC.

After mastering a few of the Indian languages, he started with the German language and then moved on to learning Russian. Post retirement from the banking sector, he decided to plunge into the world of teaching English and German.

He has a disarming smile and is a stickler for the correct grammar!

Je m’appelle Mark Tyler Rénfro!

Raised in a multi-cultural environment, Mark had the chance to witness and experience liberty in expressing genuine opinion about anything in and around his life. He has a BA in British Literature from the University of Pune. 

He embraced Canadian and American culture, which he has experienced very closely from childhood. Having gotten the opportunity to learn and thereby speak, read, write and understand different languages; makes him a true linguist – Mark speaks Hindi, Marathi, English and French fluently.

He also successfully works in the field of sub-titling movies and other media content.

Srividya has a Degree in Mathematics and an Honours in coding, from NIIT. One day, she had an epiphany and decided to leap into something new. With the support of the IFLaC team, she became a dedicated German teacher. She always wears a big smile and her cheerful disposition makes her immensely loved by her students.
She also involves herself with Carnatic music and loves cooking for her family. Inspired by her, her daughter now studies Spanish and German.

Having lived in Germany for 22 years, senior trainer Jayashree is highly proficient in German. Her meticulous method of training, with a focus on grammar structures and oral interaction, coupled with decades of teaching experience and a Master’s in Language Studies are well reflected in her classes.

Soy Vishal Nainani

Coming from Spain’s Canary Islands, Vishal adores beaches and speaks fluent Spanish. He says, teaching Spanish helps him stay connected to his Spanish roots. Let’s not forget to mention that he is a multi-talented family man who calmly deals with the antics of his two naughty sons every day.

Here’s one way you can get on his good side, tell him you’re a fan of Real Madrid or whichever team that plays against Barcelona!

Sagar came to IFLAC as a top-ranking commerce student but he uncovered his identity as a true polyglot. Besides, the usual array of languages like Hindi, Kannada, Sindhi and English, he is proficient in French and Spanish too and wishes to pursue German in the future. His interactive methods enable him to hold his students’ undivided attention in class. He has lived and worked in France and has voyaged across several countries of Europe.

A foodie, an entertainer and a social media enthusiast; Sagar can get along with anyone!

Je suis Deborah Evangeline!

Deborah began learning French during weekends while she pursued her Master’s in Botany, not realizing that teaching a foreign language would be her calling. She closely interacts with her students from different backgrounds which makes teaching French even more of an enriching experience. She teaches French, English and Kannada to students of all ages and corporates.

In her free time, Deborah geeks out over black and white movies, comics and friendly dogs who always come back for her well-known belly rubs!

Me llamo Santosh Melwani.

Santosh studied Architecture and from here sprang her interest in Spanish as she got fascinated with the famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi and his work in Barcelona. She believes that language is the most powerful way to feel the culture and thus, the architecture of a country. In her free time, you’d find Santosh in her zone enjoying good food and good conversation or under water. Fun fact, she has three PADI certifications for diving!

A culture enthusiast with a bucket list that includes over 50 countries, Simran began her journey in Spanish when she watched a Cuban film and fell in love with the language. She loves including activities, games and videos in her classes, since she specially enjoys teaching kids. She has a Bachelor’s in Journalism and is pursuing her Master’s in Communication in the USA. This has taught her that learning and teaching a language opens up one’s mind like no other experience. Moreover, languages help a person reach out to a far larger demographic and that’s one step closer to world domination! Double Bonus!

Nanna hesaru Prathima Shivaraj!

Prathima is considered as the face of our Ulsoor centre. She smoothly handles operations with the expertise she in the fields of finance, administration and human resources. She not only leads and counsels the students about their choice of language which suits their choice of studies and career, but also counsels her colleagues, with calmness and enthusiasm. You must watch her in action on those busy days as she multi-tasks with walk-ins, phone calls and scheduling. Undoubtedly, we all love having her around. After all, who else will teach us easy but delicious recipes that Prathima has honed after a long period of trial and error.

Namaste! Mera naam Jhalak Bohara!

Jhalak is of Nepalese origin and joined us a few years back. He is, without a doubt, an integral part of the IFLAC Family. If you meet Jhalak, you’d see that he always has a beaming smile. He not only takes care of our ‘tiffin’ and coffee needs, but also takes care of our office supplies and keep the office running smoothly. Whether an extra whiteboard marker, or an extra cup of coffee, we can always count on him.

Hi! My name is Lathasha Beera

She has been working as the course coordinator and center manager in IFLaC since about six and half years; at the Basavanagudi Branch. IFLaC at Basavanagudi branch is her second home – she works there with true sincerity and utmost dedication.

Withholding the tenure and experience of course coordination and client relations, she strives hard in augmenting the organization’s growth and keeping rhythmic tune-in of actives that endure organization’s positive repute and stance.

To set coherence with the institute’s panache Lathasha has also learnt Level 1 Spanish language course within the institute from a Spanish Teacher of the institute. She believe’s open and clear communication and finds herself blessed to be the lifeline of IFLaC.

A hardworking, genuinely patient, very helpful and always resourceful are few of Ramesh’s qualities, that all the staff members, faculty members and even the clients and student coherently believe, that he has.

Ramesh has had been a very important part of the organization right from the brick-building stage of the organization. He comes from a beautiful place in the northern Bangalore – Davangere and he has given abundant efforts in representing himself to match the city-life traits in communication, coordination at work and executing workflow at the institute.

He knows ins & outs of the work flow at IFLaC. Not limiting to the set key area assignations of being the office associate at IFLaC, Ramesh joyfully takes care of most of the departments at IFLaC Basavanagudi Branch.

He has learnt a few words in most of the languages taught at IFLaC and can pick out any book from the library in a jiffy, in any language just at the oral instructions of the teachers!
